6 Tricks to make your Spray Tan last longer
Protect your skin against early ageing, skin cancer, pigmentation and general sun damage. Stay under the umbrella looking like you’ve spent a week on a tropical island!
All you need now, is good exfoliation and some oil-free moisturising a few days before your Spray Tan or Self Tan application.
There are many good products on the shelves to take you from pasty pale to golden goddess, but the most indulgent way of acquiring an amazing, even-toned tan, is the SPRAY TAN. Fifteen minutes in front of a blast of cold air from the spray-gun will give you a beautiful, brown glow. A great way to start the sommer holidays!
You can choose your covering – wear the salon paper panties or wear your own, dark-coloured underwear or swimwear. This way you can decide on how much pale skin you want to keep. Don’t be shy, for once you can have a tanned bum!
The more tanned skin, the less you’ll worry about cellulite or stretch marks. Freckles and moles will still be visible, but your skin will appear more even-toned and smooth. You can apply Self Tan lotion or mousse as your Spray Tan fades, just to keep the look a little longer.
These days, Spray Tan products are developed to match your skin tone. Speak to your salon technician about this – she will know what shade to use for your specific skin colour. The wonderful thing is that even the palest skin can now have a successful tan, without looking entirely fake or orange.
How long does it last?
Depending on how well you take care of your Spray Tan
Make the most of it!
By exfoliating regularly up to 24 hours before your appointment. Use an OIL FREE exfoliant and do NOT use chimical exfoliants like retinol, or any face or body products that have AHAs in them.
2. NO SKIN LOTION
Do NOT use cream or lotion just before your spray tan. If your skin is dry, give the lotion at least six hours to penetrate the skin properly.
3. DELAY SHOWERING
Wear loose, dark clothes after your tan and do NOT shower for 6-8 hours. You may use some baby powder in the creases of legs and arms to reduce the feeling of stickiness.
4. NO OILS!
Oils will break down the pigments in the tan, so do NOT use any oils on your skin after your tan.
5. MOISTURISE DAILY
DO moisturise every day with an oil free lotion like THE TAN LAB ® Hydration Lotion. This lotion has light reflecting particles that leave your skin with a luminous glow.
6. SELF TAN
To keep withdrawal symptoms at bay, start applying a Self Tan lotion as soon as your Spray Tan starts to fade. You can add at least two days to your tan!
